What we collect

When you install the Economy3 Shopify app, we store your shop domain, access token, and the product records you sync to us. We use this to generate Digital Product Passport resolver pages, QR codes, and structured JSON-LD for your products.

We do not collect, store, or process individual customer data. We have no access to your customer names, email addresses, order history, or payment information.

How we use it

Your shop domain and access token are used to pull product data from your Shopify store and write metafields back. Product data is used to generate resolver pages at economy3.org/record/{id} and structured JSON-LD that helps agents, buyers, and search engines understand your products.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except as required to operate the service (hosting, database infrastructure).

Data retention

When you uninstall Economy3, your access token is immediately revoked and your shop data is queued for deletion. All shop data — products, resolver records, and access tokens — is permanently deleted within 48 hours of uninstall.

Product resolver pages that have been published may remain publicly accessible after uninstall if they were shared or indexed. You can request removal by emailing scott@economy3.org.

Shopify app permissions

Economy3 requests the following Shopify permissions:

· read_products — to read your product catalog · write_products — to write resolver metafields back to your products

We do not request access to orders, customers, payments, or any other store data.

GDPR and data requests

If you are a Shopify merchant and want to request a copy of your data, ask us to delete your data, or raise a data concern, email scott@economy3.org.

As noted above, we do not store customer PII. Any customer data request forwarded to us by Shopify will receive a response confirming we hold no customer records.

Security

Shop access tokens are stored in a Postgres database with TLS encryption in transit. Database access is restricted to the Economy3 application and is not publicly accessible. All API connections are HTTPS. We do not log access tokens or expose them in any API response.

Product resolver pages are public by design — they are the product's Digital Product Passport and intended to be read by agents, buyers, and regulators.
